Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…1 Peter 1:3

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe… Hebrews 12:28

The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Perry exists to utilize the musical gifts and talents of the Body of Christ in order to promote the sincere worship of God, to encourage those within the Body of Christ, and to reach the lost with the good news of Christ through the use of music and other art forms. It is our goal that our Music Ministry’s impact will be felt far beyond the walls of our sanctuary on Main Street in Perry.
At First Baptist Church of Perry, the music ministry is comprised of ordinary men, women, and children who know first-hand of the greatness of God and of the abundance of His love, grace, and mercy in a believer’s life. These people are thankful, joyful, and excited about giving Him the glory due His Name! Serving in the music ministry is a wonderful opportunity for them to
• glorify God,
• grow in Christ and inspire others to do the same,
• develop life-long relationships,
• discover abilities and refine skills, and
• participate in the work of God in the church and have a lasting impact on the life of First Baptist Church

Our Adult Choir is comprised of adults and college students with a wide variety of musical skills and abilities. The Celebration Choir is the primary worship-leading choir at First Baptist of Perry and is the entry/starting point for most adults desiring to serve in the music ministry. All soloists and smaller vocal groups are derived from the choir by satisfactory audition. The Celebration Choir leads worship in all weekend services and also plays a key role in concerts and special events throughout the year.

All talent/skill levels are welcome to participate and no prior experience and no audition is required. However, a commitment to faithful participation in rehearsals, weekend services, and special events is expected.
The Celebration Choir is a “worshipping choir” where the emphasis is not placed “on the gift, but on the giver”. We utilize a WIDE variety of musical styles and genres in the celebration of God’s wonderful love – ranging from celebratory to majestic, from triumphant to passionate, from classical to gospel, and from old to new. Choir rehearsals are from 6:00-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday night in the Sanctuary.

Making music and singing to God can be a lot of fun! At First Baptist Church of Perry, the children’s music program creates an environment where kids can learn about God and how to glorify Him through music. Our Children’s Choir seeks to teach and develop musical skills, biblical concepts, and worship leading through concentrated study and performance. This group provides special music and serves as the Praise Team for our 10:45 AM Worship Service on a regular basis throughout the year. This group rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:00p.m. in the Choir Room.

Each Sunday, we utilize our orchestra in our 10:45 AM worship service. This group is open to high school and adult players and helps to lead in each Sunday’s 10:45 AM worship services, special programs, and seasonal events.

The Celebration Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday at 5:30 PM in the Sanctuary and is under the direction of Joe Hutcheson, our Director of Instrumental Music.

God Bless America Day 2015 FinalGOD BLESS AMERICA DAY

Each year on Memorial Day weekend, we celebrate our local heroes with a service dedicated to their honor and to the memory of their fallen. It is a service filled with patriotic songs and special music led by our Celebration Choir and Orchestra.

Each year we celebrate Christmas with The Night of Joy Christmas Spectacular- a full-scale worship production celebrating the Incarnation; led by all of our choirs, instrumentalists, performance groups, and various guest artists.

The School of the Arts was established to be a Christian School for providing quality instruction in a Christian atmosphere. It is managed by the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church (Minister of Music and Music Committee).
We believe the arts are God-given for the purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ. We further believe that all talents are gifts from God. Therefore, we encourage stewardship and development of all God-given abilities.
Ephesians 5:19 says that the evidence of the spirit-filled life is a “melody in your heart.” Psalm 150 says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” These principles from God’s Word motivate us to train future worship leaders to be of service to the local church and the community.
